About Legion Jiu Jitsu's Symbolic Logo
Helmet/Unity
The core of what Legion is built on and what the helmet represents. A Legion, a large group of great humans, who empower each other to be great on and off the mats. Whether it’s growing our skills in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, building the confidence to tackle a big project at work, or navigating everyday life as a parent or spouse, our unity generates the support we all need to succeed as a team and as individuals.
Eagle/Courage
Courage is a characteristic you develop the moment you step out of your comfort zone and onto the mats to train. Most famously in ancient Rome, the eagle, or aquila, featured on the standard of the Roman Legions represented courage. The standard bearer, the Aquilifer, would carry the eagle standard into battle. This was a hugely prestigious position within the Roman army. The belt you wear symbolizes the eagle that you carry into battle every day, both on the mats and in your life. As you grow and progress on your Jiu Jitsu journey, those standards and values grow deeper and more impactful.
King/Devotion
The King chess piece represents our lineage with CheckMat and the strong devotion to training and skill development. Just like in chess, it takes time to master the many variables in the game. Years of hard work, studying and creating a game proves a devotion to yourself and to accomplishing something that many never try.
Grapplers/Vigor
The Roman Grapplers represent the vigor that Jiu Jitsu demands of us all. Energy, enthusiasm, and resilience in the face of continued hardship make Jiu Jitsu one of the hardest skills to continue learning. Without vigor on the mats, and in life, we find ourselves accepting the status quo and not setting the conditions to meet our full potential.
Legion Jiu Jitsu provides an environment where unity, courage, devotion, and vigor become daily occurrences as we travel down our path of Jiu Jitsu understanding and our path of life, together as one.
