Professor Alex Marin

Where are you from?

I am originally from Victorville, CA.

When did you start jiu-jitsu?

I started practicing jiu-jitsu in 2011 and haven’t stopped since.

Why did you start doing jiu-jitsu?

I initially started practicing jiu-jitsu to prepare for my first mixed martial arts fight in a country-western bar called Renegades, in West Palm Beach, Florida. I ended up losing that fight, but the decision to participate unknowingly led me to a life long love and career in Jiu Jitsu.

Why do you like to teach martial arts?

I personally feel that one wouldn't be able to reach their full potential- mentally, physically, and spiritually- without martial arts. Practicing martial arts has always been a great catalyst in my life to help create the best version of myself. Understanding that I always have room for improvement and always keeping the subject on my mind, helps to manifest greatness and guides others to constantly strive for their best as well. Seeing the impact it has made on my life motivates me to share that experience with others and teach this lifestyle to anyone who is willing to learn. Like Bobby McFerrin says, “Don’t worry, be happy; Cause when you worry, your face will frown, and that will bring everybody down. Don’t worry, be happy.” To reach my full potential and help others reach theirs: that’s why I love teaching Martial Arts.
